I nGrá Dé
Tús eolais do Thuismitheoirí agus Teaghlaigh
Má tá do pháiste ag baint úsáid as I nGrá Dé ar scoil, tá sé/sí ag freastal ar scoil Chaitliceach is dócha. I scoileanna Caitliceacha, caitheann páistí roinnt ama gach lá ag foghlaim faoi Dhia. Tugtar Oideachas Reiligiúnach ar an ábhar seo. Tá an méid a mhúintear do pháistí in Oideachas Reiligiúnach leagtha amach i bhfoilseachán ar a dtugtar: Catholic Preschool and Primary Religious Education Curriculum for Ireland.
Tá na nithe seo a leanas ar fáil sa chlár I nGrá Dé: scéalta, dánta, ealaín, drámaíocht agus gníomhaíochtaí ceoil – na nithe seo ar fad ceapaithe chun cabhrú le do pháiste foghlaim faoi Dhia. Ba mhaith linn agus is gá duit a bheith páirteach san fhoghlaim seo. Tá leabhar do pháiste I nGrá Dé leagtha amach sa chaoi go bhfuil dhá leathanach le déanamh gach seachtain. Déanfaidh do pháiste leathanach amháin ar scoil, agus tugtar cuireadh duit an leathanach eile a dhéanamh le do pháiste sa bhaile. I measc na rudaí a iarrfar oraibh a dhéanamh le chéile tá:
- Athinsint a dhéanamh ar scéal a chuala do pháiste ar scoil – ar nós scéal ón mBíobla, nó scéal naoimh ar nós Naomh Pádraig.
- Líníocht a dhéanamh nó pictiúr a dhathú – bunaithe ar an méid a chuala do pháiste ar scoil, ar nós scéal na Nollag nó scéal na Cásca.
- Paidir a rá le chéile. Tá focail na bpaidreacha go léir a bheidh á foghlaim ag do pháiste liostaithe ar chúl leabhar an pháiste taobh istigh den chlúdach.
- Comhrá a dhéanamh faoi do pháiste, a gcairde, a gcuid mothúchán, do theaghlach, srl. Arís, bainfidh an comhrá seo leis an méid a rinne do pháiste ar scoil i rith na seachtaine.
I ngach rud, Oideachas Reiligiúnach ina measc, is tusa an chéad mhúinteoir agus an múinteoir is fearr atá ag do pháiste. An méid a dhéantar ar scoil cuireann sé agus comhlánaíonn sé an méid a dhéanann tú sa bhaile. Sin é an fáth go bhfuil I nGrá Dé deartha le húsáid ar scoil agus sa bhaile. Soláthraíonn sé naisc le pobal áitiúil an pharóiste freisin.
Tugann I nGrá Dé deis duit, an creideamh a roghnaigh tú do do pháiste ag an mBaisteadh, a mhúineadh dó/di. Seo a leanas roinnt rudaí simplí gur féidir leat a dhéanamh sa bhaile chun cabhrú le do pháiste fás sa chreideamh:
- Cruthaigh ‘Spás Urnaí’ i seomra leapa do pháiste ag úsáid earraí reiligiúnacha ar nós cros/cros chéasta, uisce coisricthe, coinneal, srl. Beidh taithí ag do pháiste ar ‘Spás Urnaí’ toisc go mbíonn ceann acu ina seomra ranga.
- Cuir umar uisce coisricthe ag doras an tí agus beannaigh tú féin nuair a fhágann tú an teach.
- Déan gníomhartha de chineáltas le do pháiste – mar shampla cuid dá mbréagáin/éadaí maithe a thabhairt do shiopa carthanais áitiúil.
- Comhartha na Croise a ghearradh ort féin nuair a théann tú thar séipéal.
- Cuairt a thabhairt ar an séipéal ag am ciúin agus comhrá a dhéanamh le do pháiste faoin méid a fheiceann siad ann.
- Tabhair do pháiste ar Aifreann.
- Guigh paidreacha simplí le do pháiste, mar shampla Paidir na Maidine/Paidir na hOíche,Altú roimh Bhia /Altú tar éis Bia agus An Phaidir/agus Sé do Bheatha, a Mhuire mar theaghlach.
Grow in Love
An Introduction for Parents and Families
If your child is using the Grow in Love series in school, he/she probably attends a Catholic school. In Catholic schools, children spend some time each day learning about God. This is called Religious Education. What Religious Education we teach children in schools is laid out in a publication called the Catholic Preschool and Primary Religious Education Curriculum for Ireland.
The Grow in Love programme contains stories, poems, art, drama and music activities all designed to help your child to learn about God. We want and need you to be part of this learning. Your child’s Grow in Love book is laid out in such a way that there are two pages to be completed each week. Your child will do one of these in school, and you are invited to do the other one with your child at home. Examples of things that you will be asked to do together include:
- Retelling a story your child has heard in school, such as a story from the Bible, or the life story of a saint such as St Patrick.
- Drawing or colouring a picture based on what your child has heard at school, such as the Christmas or Easter story.
- Saying a prayer together. The words of all of the prayers that your child will learn by heart are listed in the back inside cover of their book.
- Chatting about your child, their friends, their feelings, your family, etc. Again, this will be related to what your child has done that week in school.
In all things, including Religious Education, you are your child’s first and best teacher. What is done in school only complements and builds on what you do at home. That is why Grow in Love is designed to be used both in school and at home. It also provides links with the local parish community.
Grow in Love offers you the opportunity to teach your child about the faith that you chose for them in Baptism. Here are some other simple things that you can do at home to help your child to grow in faith:
- Create a Prayer Space in your child’s bedroom using religious articles such as a cross/crucifix, holy water, a candle, etc. Your child will have a prayer space in their classroom, so they will be familiar with this concept.
- Place a holy water font at the front door and bless yourself as you leave the house.
- Do acts of kindness with your child, such as donating their good quality toys and clothes to a local charity shop.
- Make the Sign of the Cross when you pass a church.
- Visit the church at a quiet time and chat to your child about what they see.
- Bring your child to Mass.
- Pray simple prayers such as the Morning/Night Prayer, Grace Before/After Meals and the Our Father/Hail Mary as a family
